B6.7 Engine Photo

For decades, Cummins Westport has been the industry leader in natural gas engines – by a wide margin. No other manufacturer comes close in sales, market share or technological advancements – or in usage across so many different vehicle categories, from medium duty trucks and commercial vans to municipal transit and shuttle buses.

Further confirmation of Cummins Westport’s leadership is the recent certification of the B6.7N natural gas engine to optional Near Zero emissions standards by both the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and California’s Air Resources Board (ARB). This engine meets low NOx standards of 0.02 g/bhp-hr, which is a 90% reduction from current EPA NOx limits of 0.2 g/bhp-hr. It also meets 2021 EPA greenhouse gas (GHG) emission requirements.

The B6.7N utilizes advanced technology, proven in larger 9-liter and 12-liter engines, that has been scaled to fit a more compact engine package. Shared features include on-board diagnostics, a maintenance-free three-way catalyst, closed crankcase ventilation and an engine control module (ECM) redesigned for enhanced durability. Output for the B6.7N ranges from 200-240 horsepower with up to 560 lb-ft of peak torque, comparable to competitive diesel engines.

As with all Cummins Westport natural gas engines, the B6.7N can use fuel from a variety of sources, including compressed natural gas (CNG), liquified natural gas (LNG) or renewable natural gas (RNG). These engines set the industry standard for durability and serviceability, due in large part to the inherent strength that comes from sharing major components with Cummins diesel engines.

The B6.7N is available in a choice of three rating options:
Engine Model Advertised Horsepower
(kW) @ rpm
Peak Torque
lb-ft (N•m) @ rpm
Governed
Speed
B6.7N 200 200 (149) @ 2400  520 (705) @ 1600 2630 rpm
B6.7N 220 220 (164) @ 2400  520 (705) @ 1600  2630 rpm
B6.7N 240 240 (179) @ 2400  560 (759) @ 1600  2600 rpm
